UnderTow is an award-winning, exotic cocktail bar from the team at Barter & Shake Creative Hospitality. Opening in August 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona, UnderTow offers a tropical yet innovative cocktail experience. The environment whisks guests away on a worldly journey in the belly of a spice trader’s turn-of-the-century Clipper ship, which follows the adventures of our revered Captain John Mallory. UnderTow’s signature décor and special effects have been custom-created by various commissioned artists. This fully immersive, world-class cocktail experience also features rare rums from around the world and offers a variety of handcrafted, signature merchandise available for retail.
Our Permanent Location is closed. Visit Us at our temporary home at Hotel Valley Ho until March 2021.
At UnderTow the safety, health, and wellness of our guests and
our employees are always our number priority.
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, we closed our doors in March 2020 and remained closed for over six months. We reopened at the end of September 2020, adhering to strict operating guidelines. We’ve made the decision to relocate our beloved cocktail bar next door into the Century Grand building located at 3626 E. Indian School Road. This location is currently under construction and estimated to open March 2021. We’re grateful we will be able to reopen our doors and continue to do what we love most – creating unparalleled cocktail-centric guest experiences!
With our reopening, we have had to make some adjustments to our daily operating procedures and reservation policies based on local governing agencies, the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) and the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control. These business adaptions have been implemented to ensure we hit each benchmark and are able to keep our doors open for business while providing a safe environment. These policies are never intended to burden the guest or make the reservation process more difficult, but rather are required by these two local governing agencies. If you’d like to read more about the AZDHS operating guidelines for bars and restaurants, please read here.
Along with the updated reservation policy, we are implementing numerous processes and procedures to ensure our venues are clean and sanitized between every single guest experience. Our staff is committed to extreme cleanliness standards, are required to wear masks at all times, and have been directed to take daily logged temperature checks and weekly COVID-19 tests.
As much as we’re excited for every single one of you to visit our establishment, we do request that you read our updated COVID-19 reservation policy first. We’ve also created a FAQ page to answer any further in-depth questions you may have.
