chapter 1

The keel of the UNDERTOW cut noiselessly through the silent & soft black water of the Atlantic Ocean. In the distance was the orange glow of Sandy Harbor, no bigger on the horizon than the captain’s thumbnail. They’d be well into dawn before any man set eyes on New York Harbor, that was certain…

chapter 2

Hão Xiuiang crouched behind the cobbled ledge along Wall Street and watched the great ship slide noiselessly towards New York Harbor. He was thirteen, thin as twine, and thousands of miles from his mother’s small apartment outside the Tin Shui Wai province near the port of Hong Kong…

chapter 6

The waving green brush was as thick as any fog Captain Mallory had ever encountered at sea. But he wasn’t at sea, he was trudging through waving palms and vines as thick as mizzen line on his way to bargain with heathens. At least on the open ocean, the fog doesn’t slap you back when you swipe it away….

chapter 7

The rains came first, blowing lopsided and sideways on the last warm breezes as the Undertow sidled south, crossing the 30th parallel in silence. The remaining crew welcomed the warm rain to swab the decks and themselves. Without food or much water, Timms and the other shackled crew…

To Our Guests,
At UnderTow, the safety, health, and wellness of our guests and our employees are always our number one priority. Therefore, we have made the very difficult decision to temporarily close both our businesses beginning today, March 17th, and remain closed until further notice.

Although Arizona still ranks low with areas of a heightened risk of the transmission of COVID-19 per the Arizona Department of Health Services, as of this morning, the AZDHS recommended that all restaurants and bars discourage dine-in traffic. This decision was made to do our part to prevent community spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We appreciate your patience, understanding and continued support of our businesses. We will continue monitoring the information provided to us by WHO, the CDC, and AZDHS, and plan to re-open as soon as it is safe to do so.

Our team members are vital to our success and we are working on what we can do to support them, such as allocating resources, providing access to our wholesale vendors for large quantity grocery purchases, and continuing to pay for their health benefits if they choose to stay employed by us.
As one of our business brand pillars, we are committed to bring people together and experience world-class hospitality.  We look forward to the other side of this difficult situation when we can all invite you back into our home.

Warmest regards,

Rich Furnari, Jason Asher & Jeff Holland
